L’dor V’dor at CAO – Legacy in Motion (11/21/25)

Join Us on November 21, 2025

An evening of remembrance, renewal, and connection.

L’dor V’dor—“from generation to generation”—is more than a phrase; it’s our living promise to honor the past while shaping the future. On this special night, we unveil and install sacred ritual artifacts entrusted to us by the congregations of Ansha Sholum of Lawrence and Temple Emanu-El of Haverhill—communities that, with open hearts, sought to ensure their legacy would continue to inspire future generations. Now, these treasured pieces find their forever home at Congregation Ahavat Olam.

8 Torahs from Ansha Sholum, Lawrence, MA.

This milestone evening unites history, faith, and community. It is a story of heritage reclaimed and spirit renewed—a true legacy in motion.

This event is free and open to the public. PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.

The entire evening will also be livestreamed on Zoom and Facebook Live, so everyone—near and far—can share in this meaningful celebration together.

Honoring the past. Inspiring the future.

From the congregations of Lawrence and Haverhill to the heart of North Andover, these sacred objects have traveled through time—witnesses to generations of prayer, family, and faith. Their new home at Congregation Ahavat Olam ensures that their spirit continues to inspire, reminding us that Jewish life in the Merrimack Valley endures.

Each artifact tells a story of devotion, resilience, and love. Together, they form a bridge between what was and what will be—a legacy in motion, from generation to generation.

Behind the Scenes: Disassembling the Artifacts

Here’s a peek into the methodical task of disassembling precious 100-year-old artifacts from Ansha Sholum, Lawrence. Performed with precision, love, reverence, and great care by Congregation Ahavat Olam’s Eliud Calderon (congregant/master carpenter extraordinarre), Max Dawson (founding member, Board of Directors), and Rabbi Idan Irelander (founding Rabbi).

But before Eliud, Rabbi Idan, and Max started the solemn task entrusted to them, they reflected in awe.

‘The Holy Ark was meant to be there forever.’  ‘It includes over 200 pieces.’  ‘For 100 years, and thousands of life-cycle events, congregants have cried, laughed, and prayed before it.’

– Eliud, Rabbi, and Max
