Guiding Principles

Our values are deeply rooted in tikkun olam, ‘to mend our world  in hopes of making it a better place. Our acceptance of each other stems from the understanding and expectation that we are all different, and yet, we are all needed.

Engagement with every individual member in this congregation is the primary mission as individuals, a community, and the world as a whole. The ancient writings of the Talmud emphasize this bonding, and best describes it by the phrase “kol Israel arevim ze baze,” that all of Israel is responsible for one another.

Congregation Ahavat Olam values diversity and fosters the engagement that creates a common foundation from the acceptance of different perspectives.  We encourage members to actively participate in all aspects of synagogue life, whether it be by taking on roles at services, education, sharing the wisdom of Torah, singing, or raising concerns that create change. Our members’ voices are always heard.
